Low Fat Scones
Philomena’s Zero Fat Scones
Perfect for anyone with a diet with a bit of a sweet tooth!
| Ingredients | |
| 1 lb/454g flour | |
| 2 tsp baking powder | |
| 2-3 oz/60g castor sugar | |
| 2 eggs | |
| Buttermilk | |
| 1/2 tsp vanilla essence | |
| pinch of salt (optional) | |
| Method | |
| Turn out onto a lightly floured surface | |
| Bring the mixture into a ball and roll out to approximately 1 inch/2.5 cm thick | |
| Cut the mixture into circle shapes | Tip! Dip the cutter into flour before each scone is cut |
| Place the scones on a lined baking tray and brush the tops with the remaining egg mixture. | |
| Bake for 10-15 minutes or until golden brown. | |
| Experiment! Alternatively take out 25g flour and replace with 25g ground almonds and 1-2 tsp of ground cinnamon for Almond scones. Add mixed Fruit/ nuts etc |
